Changes1

maitA lot has changed in our lives during the last few weeks.

We were coming back from 6 weeks long holidays, were specially Mait's schedule was completely messed up. Now my parental leave is over and i started to work again and Mait has to go to the kindergarten.

For Mait it has been quite hard, he has to wake up every day latest at 6h30, to arrive to the kindergarten at 8h00 and be without us until 17h00, really hard. On my side, i can not complain, despite i enjoyed being at home with Mait and that i would also like to do it more, i am really happy to bike every day to the office, were i also do what i like to do.

My only concern is that now Mait will spend more time in the kindergarten than with us, and i am really curious to see how this will affect his development...mait

Welcome Home0

welcome-homeFinally at home!

HiiumaaMichael has already asked me for couple of days to write something to our blog.

After I stayed home, I have been really busy all the time. Today is 23 July 2008 (Happy Birthday my dear deskmate Mann!) and until the due date is just some hours left…

Now, when I have finished some important tasks, I have a wish to contribute also from my side and share with you some feelings which are related to a place, our home, which is far away at sea and which is deep in our hearts. Our Estonian friends already know that I cannot get over of our home in Hiiumaa island.

Hiiumaa (in German and Swedish also called Dagö- Day Island) is the second largest island in Estonia and situates in the Western Estonian archipelago. My dad is from Hiiumaa and almost all my relatives from my dad’s side live there, in Männamaa village. Our hut is situating ca 30 km west from Männamaa, on the south side of Köpu peninsula.

What brings us to Hiiumaa? Or, being honest, what brings me to Hiiumaa- of course nature, silence, peace, sea, fishing, relatives and friends. When I was living in Tallinn, I enjoyed the possibility to go there whenever I wanted and on the moment I drove my car towards to Hiiumaa, I was filled with incredible peace. Now, living in Köln, I miss Hiiumaa and spending spontaneous weekends there. Unfortunately we cannot go this year to Hiiumaa, but hopefully it’ll happen next year. May be that home will be the place where our son will do his first steps and may be he will even swim at sea for the first time in our Kiduspe beach.
I really hope that my family will love our home there as much as I do and their summer dreams will always include a trip to Hiiumaa to our hut, to our home, which situates far at sea (I really recommend to read Astrid Lindgren’s book Seacrow Island (in Swedish Tjorven på Saltkråkan), this gives very good overview of island life).

After six hours walking Mait still does not want to come out, but we, we got really tired...
